Events and Updates

The West Goshen Township Park and Recreation Department offers a variety of quality public recreation opportunities for the benefit of West Goshen residents at an affordable price in a fun and safe environment.

West Goshen Bicentennial:  Celebrate the bicentennial of West Goshen Township with  a joint celebration with East Goshen Township at East Goshen Park on Saturday, June 3, 2017, and a special Living History Day at West Goshen Community Park on Saturday, August 6, 2017.  Or, if you have maps, photographs, documents, or artwork related to West Goshen history you'd like to display, West Goshen Township invites you to participate in a special History Exhibit during the months of July and August 2017.


Summer Programs The Summer Recreation Program will be held between June 19, 2017 and August 11, 2017 at Barker Park, West Goshen Community Park, and Coopersmith Park  Sports clinics will take place between the weeks of June 26, 2017 and August 7, 2017.  Registration for all programs will begin on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The West Goshen Park and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the positions of Counselor and Junior Counselor.


Week-long Summer Camps:  The West Goshen Park and Recreation Department will team up again with Fairman's for Skateboard Camps at Lambert Park for the following weeks:
June 26-30, 2017 (ages 8-12)
July 10-14, 2017 (ages 8-12)
July 24-28, 2017 (ages 10-14)
August 7-11, 2017 (ages 8-12)
August 21-15, 2017 (ages 10-14)
If your child is more artistically inclined, a week-long Photography Camp with The Photography Workshop will be available at Coopersmith Park for children ages 9 through 16 during the week of June 19-23, 2017.


Bus Trips:  The West Goshen Township Park and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the following bus trips:
Friday, June 9, 2017:  Orioles vs. Yankees at Yankee Stadium
Saturday, July 1, 2017:  Phillies vs. Mets at Citi Field
Saturday, August 19, 2017:  Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
Saturday, September 9, 2017:  World Trade Center Memorial and Museum and Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan


Summer Concerts:  All concerts begin on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM at West Goshen Community Park and are FREE OF CHARGE.  In the event of rain concerts would be held at the Fugett Middle School Auditorium EXCEPT the August 6th performance by the Upper Darby Sousa Band, which would be held at Henderson High School in the event of rain.

Theater in the Park:  Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company returns to West Goshen Community Park with William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 7:00 PM.  The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School presents Shakespeare's Twelfth Night on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 6:00 PM.  Both performances are FREE OF CHARGE.


Other Upcoming Events:

  • West Goshen hosts its second annual Township-wide Yard Sale on Saturday, June 24, 2017 between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
  • Children can register their bicycles for the July 4th Decorated Bicycle Parade at West Goshen Community Park.
  • Artists living in West Goshen Township are invited to submit paintings, photographs, drawings, sculptures, quilts, needlepoints, etc. for the 18th Annual West Goshen Resident Art Exhibit in the months of September and October 2017.
  • Vote for films to be shown in the Fall Movie Series.
  • It's not too early for West Goshen residents to register online for the October 22, 2017 Harvest Festival at West Goshen Community Park.

Did you know that many of the events sponsored by the West Goshen Park and Recreation Department are free to the public?  The West Goshen Park and Recreation Board askas anyone attending a free public event to bring a donation of a dry good item (e.g., soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) for the West Chester Food Cupboard and the Coatesville Veterans Hospital.

Events don't just happen..they require the effort of many.  You can help The Friends of West Goshen Parks by becoming a member.

 

Parks and Facilities

Township parks are open daily from dawn until dusk.

Pavilion rentals are available for groups at Barker Park (Falcon Lane near Westtown Road), Coopersmith Park (Spring Lane), and West Goshen Community Park (N. Five Points Road and Fern Hill Road).  Each park is equipped with picnic tables, charcoal grills, bathrooms, ballfields, and playground areas.  Groups may check pavilion availability by contacting Park and Recreation Director Ken Lehr at klehr@westgoshen.org or by phone at 610-696-5266, ext. 4104.  The Application for Pavilion Rental is available online.
